How might we encourage sustainable community practices: Barriers and stigma involved in using second hand products

We began by figuring out our name. We wanted something that would relate to others and that would stick.


Then we addressed the problem, Second Nature transforms the act of buying into a meaningful partnership between communities. Instead of fleeting transactions, our platform builds lasting bonds by focusing on hyper-local exchanges. While others profit, we prioritise sustainability.

Rethink consumerism by encouraging borrowing, renting, and sharing within a community

  • Thrift store prices have risen nearly 30% from 2020 - 2024

  • 92 million tonnes of clothes end up in landfills

  • The average Canadian household contributes 140 kilograms of yearly food waste, with Canada wasting over $20 billion in food yearly

Sustainability becomes more impactful when it’s rooted in community, not just individual action. Giving users a platform to get help and give help makes it easier for everyone.
